The 2025 HAF Film Lab showcases a new wave of emerging film projects from Hong Kong, Mainland China, South Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, and beyond. These stories delve into identity crises shaped by everyday structures—gendered mobility, urban-rural inequality, and the diminishing agency of labour under globalisation. Filmmakers selected from 138 applications will participate in a five-day training programme from 25th to 29th August. The training features a comprehensive curriculum covering scriptwriting, cinematography, editing, art direction, international coproduction, and one-on-one consultations.
Open lectures will be available to the public, with free registration starting on 14 August. The lectures will be conducted in a hybrid format, both in-person and online, with simultaneous interpretation provided in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English. Please stay tuned for more updates!
