自2018年起，電影業辦公室於每年暑假舉辦「電影培訓計劃」（Film Lab），為期五天的工作坊以講座形式為主，輔以一對一咨詢，為新一代的香港及華語新導演提供與資深電影人交流的機會。今年的Film Lab培訓主題包括劇本創作、攝影、剪輯、電影美術、電影推廣及發行等，幫助入圍電影人及公眾提升專業技能和知識，更深入地了解行業發展趨勢。
Since its inception in 2018, HKIFF Industry has organized the Film Lab, a five-day training programme, which focuses on lectures and one-on-one consultations, providing the next generation of Hong Kong and Chinese-speaking filmmakers the chance to learn from experienced industry professionals. This year, the Film Lab encompasses a comprehensive curriculum covering scriptwriting, cinematography, editing, art direction, distribution and marketing, etc. The programme is tailored to elevate the professional skills and knowledge of selected participants and the general public, while providing deeper insights into the evolving trends of the film industry.
短短幾年內，培訓計劃已成為年輕電影人的關鍵推動力量，幫助新導演踏出重要的第一步。已完成的作品包括鄭陸心源的 《她房間裡的雲》、劉國瑞的《白日青春》、蔡傑的《人海同遊》、曾慶宏的《過時．過節》等，最新Film Lab 2023項目《市場裡的女鬼》，更於首屆電影業辦公室項目市場（HKIFF Industry Project Market）2024獲得台北市電影委員會大獎。
Over the years, Film Lab has established itself as a crucial catalyst for nurturing young talent, creating transformative impacts and helping them launch their careers. Notable success stories include Zheng Lu Xinyuan (The Cloud in Her Room), Lau Kok Rui (The Sunny Side of the Street), Cai Jie (Borrowed Time), and Tsang Hing-weng (Hong Kong Family), and the latest Film Lab 2023 project, The Ghost in the Market, has won the Taipei Film Commission Award in the inaugural HKIFF Industry Project Market.
